PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation element for changing the pattern of an output light without any problem such as noise in luminous output. SOLUTION: A transparent second electrode 3 is formed by an arbitrary fixed pattern on a translucent substrate 2, and a light emitting part 4 is laminated and formed on the electrode 3. This light emitting part 4 is constituted of m-MTDATA, α-NPD, and Alq3. A light shielding metallic film 5(Al-Li layer) as a light shielding conductive layer is formed on the Alq3 of the light emitting part 4, and an optical conductive film 6(NTCDA) as a light receiving part is formed on this, and a translucent first electrode 7 is formed on this. The first electrode 7 is impressed to minus, and a round-shaped monochromatic light (16 μW) whose wavelength is 400 nm is inputted from the side of the first electrode 7, and a cross-shaped light whose wavelength is 520 nm is outputted from the side of the second electrode 3 according to the light emission of the Alq3. The input light is shielded by the light shielding metallic film so as not to be mixed with the output light, and only a light from the light emitting part 4 can be outputted as an output light. Also, pattern conversion can be attained. |
