The heating coil inductively heats adjacent regions of two plates to harden a thermally hardening joint material between the plates to connect them together. A first element (64) forming a first inductive heating surface is arranged adjacent to one plate and the joint material. A second element (70) forming a second heating surface at a distance from the first has a shape complementary to that of the first and is adjacent to the other plate and the joint material. Conducting elements connect the first and second elements to a coil with a single winding. A HF current is fed to the first and second elements.
