The security marking consists of an azine dyestuff worked into the carrier paper which is insoluble in water and invisible to the naked eye and a layer is one the opposite side to the making which can be activated easily and rapidly for checking. The security marking for paper, which is sensitive to heat, uses an azine dyestuff which is insoluble in water and which cannot be seen with the naked eye worked into the carrier paper material. The surface opposite the security marking side is saturated with an organic solvent or an acid to give a conspicuous coloration. The opposite side to the security marking is covered with a layer of a material in the acid or neutral pH range, with a dye which can barely be seen, based on pyrenesulfonate. On contact with an alkali substance, there is a color reaction which gives a fluorescent hue in daylight. The azine dyestuff is introduced into the carrier paper at a rate of 0.005-0.1 wt% or 0.01-0.03 wt%. The dyestuff in the layer, applied on the opposite side to the security marking, is used in a distribution of 0.01-40.0 mg/m<2> or 0.05-7.5 mg/m<2>. The surface of the layer, opposite the security marking side, is soaked with a mixture of a primary alcohol, a secondary alcohol and an acid. It is applied by a felt pen, sponge, stamp or other simple system.
