The spring (7) is cocked when the segment is closed (3b) with a spring force operating in the opening direction, and the spring presents an elongated coil spring tie following the segment guides and a positive bolt extending radial to the spring axis from the free end of the spring. The segment guide consists of an extruded profile (4) with a spring channel and the arcuate path of the guides ensures that the force of the weight component diminishes with increasing segment opening. The spring is designed so its residual tension matches the residual weight force. The inherent weight of the segment is over-compensated by the spring in closure, using a bolting device to lock the segment in close setting. The extruded guide (4) has a shaped channel for the spring and also has channels on its sides facing the adjacent segments for the glazing (3a), segment, bolting device and spring. The channels are spaced out by crossbars forming closed spaces between the respective channels.
