<p>An apparatus for preparing dialysate concentrate includes a vessel (12), a controllable valve (20) for regulating water flow to the vessel (12), a firs t sensing device (22) for detecting when the liquid has reached a lower level, a second sensing device (24) for detecting when the liquid has reached an uppe r level and an agitator (26) for mixing the contents of the vessel (12). The apparatus can be used in a method for preparing a dialysate concentrate by connecting a source of water to water supply line (78), filling the vessel (12) to the predetermined lower level, opening the controllable valve (20), allowing the first sensing device (22) to detect when the predetermined lowe r level has been reached and closing the valve (20), adding powder or liquid t o the vessel (12), agitating the contents of the vessel (12) with agitator (76 ) to cause the powder or liquid to mix with the water in the vessel (12) and then filling the vessel (12) to the upper level by opening the valve (20) to admit more water until the second sensing device (24) detects that the upper level has been reached.</p> |
