The positioning device includes a reference part (11) on the clamping socket (51) of the platen cylinder (45), in contact with the front end of the printing plate to position it, and a guide part (15) adjacent to the reference part. The guide part is fitted to the clamping socket so that there is a gap between them roughly equal to the thickness of the printing plate.
