A synchronizing ring (1) has a slide region (3) with a thermally sprayed wear resistant tribological coating (4) containing titanium dioxide. A synchronizing ring (1) has a slide region (3) with a thermally sprayed wear resistant tribological coating (4) containing at least 40 wt.% titanium dioxide. An Independent claim is also included for application of the coating (4) described above by thermal spraying of a material containing at least 40 wt.% titanium dioxide. Preferred Features: The coating (4) contains titanium dioxide particles of /}5 mu size as well as tin, zinc, copper and/or aluminum and is applied by arc spraying using a filled wire, optionally together with a solid wire, especially of CuAl8.
