<p>The cooling system for a dross press head 10 comprising a hollow interior 12, comprises a cooling coil 16 within its interior 12, particulate material 18 which has a higher heat absorptivity than water packed around the coil 16 and means 24 to control fluid flow through the coil 16. The particulate material 18 may be chromite sand, the cooling fluid may be water. The flow control means 24 increases fluid flow in response to a sensor 20 sensing the temperature of the press head 10 being above a first temperature and decreases fluid flow when the sensor 20 senses that the temperature of the press head 10 is below a second temperature. The amount of time that the press head 10 is in contact with dross is a function of the dross temperature.</p> |
