PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container tilting device for a garbage collector capable of reducing burdens of garbage collection operation by releasing the removing operation of a troublesome garbage guide plate. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a lift arm 13 oscillatably-journalled to a garbage charging box 1, a container titling mechanism 20 which is mounted on the front end of the lift arm 13 and tilts a container retaining means 30 so as to interlock with oscillating of the lift arm 13, a garbage guide plate 41, and a guide plate oscillating mechanism 35 which oscillates so as to interlock with oscillating of the lift arm 13 in a horizontal condition under which the lift arm 13 retains the garbage guide plate 41 to the roughly same height as the lower edge of a garbage charging opening 3 at a downward position, and a tilt condition under which the lift arm 13 is tiltingly-disposed between the lower edge of the garbage charging opening 3 and a portion next to the opening edge part of the garbage storage container 50 retained on the container retaining means 30 at a rising position.
