PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent for inhibiting the uptake of a purine or pyrimidine nucleoside into intravital cells by adding a phenylthiazole derivative as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This agent contains a phenylthiazole derivative of the formula R1 is OR, NRR' [R, R' are each a (substituted) 1-8C alkyl, or forms a (substituted) five-six membered heterogeneous ring together with N], a cyclic amino group or the like; R2 is cyano or nitro; R3 is H or a 1-4C alkyl} as an active ingredient. The active ingredient may be used in the form of an oral agent such a soft capsule agent, a hard capsule agent, tablets and syrup, or an injection, an agent for external uses, etc. The active ingredient is preferably administered at a daily dose of 0.01-300 mg/kg once to three times/day. The preparation is useful as an agent for reinforcing the action of a cell growth inhibitor.
