PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair wax hardly providing tackiness, providing a slippery touch feeling, and good in slip. SOLUTION: This hair wax obtained by emulsifying an oily component is composed by compounding 12-hydroxystearic acid with an alkali agent. Preferably, the proportion of the 12-hydroxystearic acid compounded therewith is 0.1-30 wt.%, and the proportion of the alkali agent compounded therewith is 0.05-0.5 wt.%. Di-2-ethylhexyl succinate is preferably compounded therewith to make the hair wax having a setting power, and the proportion of the di-2- ethylhexyl succinate is preferably 0.5-10 wt.%.
