PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as an organic photoconductor used in electrophotographic photoreceptor, especially lamination type photoreceptor, having practical high sensitivity as a photoreceptor for high speed copying machines and laser printers. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [Z is a (substituted) benzene ring, naphthalene ring or carbazole ring; R is H, a halogen, a lower alkyl or the like; (n) is 1-3], e.g. a compound of formula II. Further, the above compound is obtained by reacting a bis(diazonium salt) compound represented by formula III (X is an anion functional group) with a coupler represented by formula IV in an organic solvent such as N,N-dimethlformamide at about -10 to 40 deg.C reaction temperature for about 5 min to about 3 hr while dropping an alkali aqueous solution such as sodium acetate aqueous solution.
