PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yarn setting method for a spinning winder capable of ensuring yarn setting for winding yarn on a bobbin fitted into a bobbin holder. SOLUTION: Yarn setting to start wind-up with yarn wound on a bobbin fitted into a bobbin holder 23 is performed by moving the bobbin holder 23 to a position out of a winding position A1. A position of moving the bobbin holder 23 is preferably where a locus of the yarn wound on the bobbin does not intersect a supporting member 32 in view from the end of the bobbin holder 23 if the supporting member exist at the winding position A1. If the yarn is easy to cling, the bobbin holder 23 is preferably moved to the side of the yarn apart from a touch roller 27.
