PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the discharge of a sulfate component (granular material) even at low temp. area. SOLUTION: A reducing agent is supplied to waste gas and the waste gas is brought into contact with an SOx catalytic reducing catalyst consisting essentially of a transition element to partially oxidize at least the reducing agent to partially oxidized hydrocarbon, and also the sulfate component in the waste gas is reduced and purified with the partially oxidized hydrocarbon. The partially oxidized hydrocarbon is very high in reaction activity and selectively reduces the sulfate component by reacting with the sulfate component in the waste gas. Therefore, the sulfate component is suppressed from being discharged as granular material since the sulfate component is efficiently reduced and discharged as SO2. |
