PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a risk of generating an obstacle for the return motion of a brake shoe (centering) and secure the shoe holddown function to work well by furnishing the web of the shoe with a shoe holddown cup and fitting one end of a shoe holddown spring on the shoe holddown cup. SOLUTION: A shoe holddown mechanism of a drum brake is composed of a shoe holddown pin 10, shoe holddown spring 4, and a shoe holddown cup 11 at the tip of the pin, wherein one end 4a of the spring 4 is held unslidably by the web 2 of a brake shoe.
