PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the body side structure of an automobile which can prevent a center pillar from being deformed at collision without causing increase of weight and cost. SOLUTION: In the body side structure of an automobile constituted so that a door reinforcement 5 is arranged in a front door 4 opening or closing a front door opening 2a so as to be along a belt line L, an upper reinforcement 11 is arranged on the upper half part in a center pillar 10 forming the rear edge of the front door opening 2a, a lower reinforcement 12 is arranged on the lower half part, and the lower reinforcement 12 and the upper reinforcement 11 are overlappedly joined together, the overlapped part A of the upper reinforcement 11 and the lower reinforcement 12 is provided so as to extend from the upper side to the lower side of the door reinforcement 5.
