PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a coating composition for pattern finish, capable of being applied with a conventional spray gun so as to form patterns ranging from spot-like pattern to stringy one by incorporating a resin, a tacky agent and a coloring material as essential components. SOLUTION: This coating composition for pattern finish is prepared by incorporating (A) a resin (e.g. a reactive setting resin, a thermosetting resin, a thermoplastic resin or the like), (B) a tacky agent and (C) a coloring material (e.g. pigment or dyestuff) as essential components. When forming spot-like pattern, the component B is pref. contained in a quantity of 1-30 wt.%. When forming stringy pattern, the component B is pref. contained in a quantity of 30-100 wt.% and (D) resin powder (e.g. filamentous or globular powder made of AS, ABS, polyethylene or the like) is pref. contained as well in a quantity of 0.1-50 wt.%. A composition comprising the components B, D and C is also useful and forms stringy pattern when 0.1-50 wt.% component D is contained.
