PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body shape measuring instrument precisely measuring the shape of the back surface of a person to be measured at the time of selecting a bed of hardness optimal to the person to be measured. SOLUTION: The instrument is provided with a substrate 2 with a scale 4 for the person to be measured to stand, a supporter 6 erected at this substrate 2, an inspection frame 7 disposed movably a front/rear direction crossing with the vertical direction of this supporter 6, a driving source 15 driving this frame 7 in the front/rear direction, a plurality of inspection rods 12 which are arranged at prescribed intervals along the vertical direction of the frame 7 and movably along the front/rear direction and whose tips are abutted on the back surface of the person to be measured standing on the scale to move and displace according to the recessed/projected shape of the back surface when the frame 7 is driven in an advancing direction by the driving source 15, and a laser distance meter 35 measuring the displacing quantity of the rods 12 displaced by abutting on the back surface of this person to be measured.
