PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce generation of abnormal sound due to stick slip between a document a separation means at the time of carrying the document changing characteristic frequency of the separation means and a pressure means. SOLUTION: This document automatic separation device makes a separation pad contact with a paper feeding roller as a pressure shaft 6 presses the separation pad through a holder when an upper guide plate is closed, a cylindrical rubber 12 is installed on the pressure shaft 6, a rib 13 is provided on an upper cover 14, the rubber 12 is made contact with the rib 13 and this part becomes a joint, and characteristic frequency of this separation pad and the pressure shaft 6 is changed. Consequently, it is possible to prevent generation of abnormal sound due to stick slip between a document and the separation pad at the time of carrying the document.
