PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stable coating by starting the coating stably at a high speed and preventing the contamination of a carrier roll with coating liquid associated with the start/stop of the coating. SOLUTION: In an apparatus for curtain coating, at the start of coating, a movable coater head 1 which can bring down a coater head which was lifted upward to a regulated height in linkage with the movement of a liquid receiving pan 10 for receiving the coating liquid of a curtain film 4 associated with the start of coating is installed. In this curtain coating method with the use of the apparatus, the coater head 1 is lifted by 180-250 mm in advance and brought down to a regulated height after the start of coating. Before the start and stop of coating, the amount of coating liquid to be supplied is reduced to 50-90%.
