PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying device capable of rapidly and efficiently purifying harmful gases, particularly HC in an exhaust gas even discharged from a low temp. atmosphere such as just after starting an engine. SOLUTION: In the exhaust gas purifying device 1 of internal combustion engine, which has a main catalyst 12 containing an inorganic oxide and a noble metal and exhibiting relatively higher exhaust gas purifying performance in a high temp. region and a warm-up catalyst 11 containing an inorganic oxide and a noble metal and exhibiting exhaust gas purifying performance relatively higher than that of the main catalyst 12 in a low temp. region, at least an oxide of rare earth element having oxygen storage ability is incorporated in the main catalyst 12 as the inorganic oxide and an oxide having no oxygen storage ability is used as the inorganic oxide in the warm-up catalyst 11. |
