PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively rupture the stitching part of sheathing material for a seat back by letting a load transmitting member surely function when an air bag is inflated in this air bag device for side collision housing the air bag in the inside of the seat back. SOLUTION: An module case 35 housing an air bag 4, and a front and a rear pad 19 and 20 are disposed in the inside of a seat back 2, base ends are fixed by a clip 28 so as to allow the tip end of ground fabric 30f wound around the front face of the pad 19 to be bonded with the stitching part 25 of sheathing material 21 and 22, and the tip end of ground fabric 30f fabric at the rear side, which is fixed by the clip 28 at its base ends, and is wound around the rear surface of the pad 29 and the right side surface of the module case 35, is bonded with the stitching part 25 of the sheathing material 21 and 22. The hardness of a portion 29h, against which the stay cloth 30r at the rear side out of the pad 29 at the rear side abuts, is set up to be higher than that for the other portions, and when the air bag 4 is inflated so as to allow a lid 37 to be opened, the tension of the stay cloth 30r is surely transmitted to the stitching part 25 so as to enable the stitching part 25 to be thereby ruptured. |
