PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device capable of expanding a bag housing member such as a garnish fixed to a car body and the like even by small force, and of securing its strength at the normal time. SOLUTION: A lateral thin wall part 60 is formed in a place under the assist grip 42 of a garnish 36, and furthermore, a vertical thin wall part 62 the lower end part of which is continued with the lateral thin wall part 60, is formed up in front and in rear of the assist grip 42. When a bag body 26 is expanded so as to allow a garnish 36 to be pressed, shearing stress is concentrated in the lateral and vertical thin wall parts 60 and 62 so as to allow the aforesaid wall parts to be thereby ruptured. In this case, the upper end part of the vertical thin wall part 62 is located above the assist grip 42 and a rib 40, and since the garnish 36 is expanded while being turned around an axis formed by the line of connecting the upper end part of the garnish thin wall part 62, and the turning radius of the garnish 36 is long, so that expansion can thereby make shift with small force. |
