PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize carrier force working on a sheet material during carriage and to prevent jamming and bias feeding by constantly holding a carrier distance constant regardless of abrasion of a feeding roller. SOLUTION: A head end of a sheet material S is clamped by a carrier roller pair 8 by moving a feeding part support member 6 outward from a feeding position to a transfer position in a paper feeding cassette 1 while pressing the same point of the sheet material S by a flat part formed on the paper feeding roller 3 rotation of which is regulated by a one-way clutch 5. Thereafter, the sheet material S is carried by the carrier roller pair 8, while the feeding part support member 6 is moved inward from the transfer position to the feeding position while rotating the feeding roller 3.
