PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically execute stop sewing at the end point of a seam pattern even when the pattern is continuously formed. SOLUTION: When a pattern selecting switch 12 is operated and a continuous pattern is selected, a microcomputer 19 reads corresponding seam data from a ROM 20 and sets a seam type mode to a continuous seam mode. Then, when a start switch 13 is turned on, stop sewing is executed at first and successively, a seam pattern is continuously formed based on seam data after the end of stop-sewing. A user operates a seam type setting switch 16 and changes-over the mode to a single seam mode at the time of stopping continuous sewing. Then, stop sewing is automatically executed at the point of time when the seam pattern under formation is ended and then, the sewing operation is ended.
