PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the needle of a safety pin to be hardly released for safety by automatically storing the needle with spring force, and providing a projection at a storage position. SOLUTION: When a tab 1 and a tab 2 are pinched by fingers in the directions of arrows, a needle 3 is opened and released from a storage house 4. When the fingers are released from the tab 1 and the tab 2, the needle 3 is closed by the force of a spring 5 and stored in the storage house 4. When this safety pin is to be fitted to clothes, the tab 1 and the tab 2 are pinched by fingers, the needle 3 released from the storage house 4 is inserted into the clothes, then the fingers are released from the tab 1 and the tab 2, and the needle 3 is stored in the storage house 4, thus the safety pin can be fitted to the clothes safely and simply. A projection 6 is provided at the storage position, thus the needle 3 is hooked on the projection 6 and is hardly released unless it is released intentionally. The safety pin can be handled safely and simply when it is fitted to the clothes or released from the clothes or temporarily put on a table.
