PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device capable of restraining overlapped feeding of paper sheets at the time of feeding the paper the sheets immediately after setting a paper feeding tray on an image forming device. SOLUTION: When a paper feeding tray 1 is set on an image forming device, a head end of a bottom plate 3 rises by a pressure mechanism and paper sheets 2 are made pressure contract with a paper feeding roller 7. A drive shaft 8 on which the paper feeding roller 7 is installed is fitted in an oblong of a support plate and free to vertically move. Paper feeding pressure is made a proper value by slightly lowering it by raising the paper feeding roller 7 by raising the drive shaft 8 at the time of carrying out paper feeding motion by setting the paper feeding tray 1.
