PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize a true dividing boundary line for demarcating each picture area without mistaking a supporter of the high absorption rate of radiation buried in a subject for a dividing boundary line. SOLUTION: A dividing boundary line recognizing method divides one radiation picture converting panel 40 into a plurality of areas to be irradiated and concerning the radiation picture of the subject 30 radiographed in each of these areas to be irradiated, recognizes the dividing boundary line for demarcating each picture area of a recording medium recording this radiation picture by the unit of a pixel. The recognizing method is provided with CPU 15 which scans the radiation picture in an order from the neighborhood of the center of the picture toward the end of the picture to extract the set of pixel strings being two adjacent pixel strings, which are nearly orthogonal with the direction of the scanning and nearly parallel with each other, and which extracts the featured value of the set of the respective pixel strings and compares the featured value of the set of the pixel strings and a previously set featured value with each other to recognize the set of pixel strings nearest the center of the radiation picture as the dividing boundary line. |
