PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain a silyacetylene of high purity useful as a synthetic intermediate or the like in high yield by reaction of a specific silyl compound with a specific ethynly compound in the presence of barium ethylhexoside. SOLUTION: A silyl compound of formula I ((m) is an integer of <=4; R is a 1-30C alkyl, alkenyl or the like) and an ethynyl compound of formula II (R1 is H, a 1-30C alkyl or the like) are allowed to react with each other in the presence of barium 2-ethylhexoside thereby giving a silyalacetylene compound of formula III. In a preferred embodiment, a hydrosilyl compound of formula IV (R2 and R3 are each H, a 1-30C, alkenyl, phenyl or the like) and a diethynyl compound of formula V (R4 is a 1-30C alkylene, alkenylene; (n) is 0-4) are allowed to react with each other in the presence of barium 2- ethylhexoside to give a silicon-containing polymer bearing acetylene bonds and containing the recurring units represented by formula IV. |
