PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus inexpensively which does not requires a user to do complicate operation and is easy to use. SOLUTION: A conducive pattern 205 on a label 201 of a cartridge moves relatively to a permanent magnet 17 and a detecting coil 18. When the conductive pattern passes a magnetic field 207, a current 208 flows to the conductive pattern 205 because of the electromagnetic induction by a change in electric field. The current 208 does not flow when the conductive pattern 205 is cut by a cutting mechanism indicating that the cartridge is loaded once. The cartridge is detected not to be a new one when it is detected that the current does not flow. |
