PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat device for an automobile capable of providing optimum amenity and luggage space with relatively simple structure. SOLUTION: This seat device for an automobile with lateral seat bodies 2, 2 installed side by side adjustable in the longitudinal position through a slide adjuster is provided with a block body 3 installed between the seat bodies 2, 2 and having a support plate part 4c almost horizontally at specified height from a floor F of a body. The slide adjuster is disposed between the support plate part 4c and each seat body 2, and each seat body 2 is held in a cantilever state to the support plate part 4c through the slide adjuster so as to form space corresponding to the height of the support plate part 4c between the floor F and the seat body 2.
