PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing, from tetracarboxylic acid anhydride and diamine, a polyimide correspondent therewith in one step. SOLUTION: This method for producing a polyimide comprises reacting a tetracarboxylic acid anhydride with a diamine in a molar ratio of (1-0.5):(0.5-1) in the presence of 0.2-10 wt.% of 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10- oxide in a solvent in the flow of an inert gas.
