PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to accelerate the recycling of a waste and provide an artificial wood, the rigidity and workability of which is the same as those of a wood though it is lighter than the wood and which can be manufactured at a low cost, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In order to manufacture this artificial wood, a waste paper material and the water are charged in a waste paper shredder and then agitated so as to shred this waste paper material into a waste paper pulp material. Then, the waste paper pulp material is charged in a solution, which is prepared by dissolving a foamed styrol or a styrol resin in a methylene chloride-based organic solvent, and then agitated with an agitator. The kneaded matter of the agitated styrol resin and waste paper pulp material is housed in a predeterminedly shaped mold 7 and pressed with a pressing machine 8 so as to remove the water content and the methylene chloride-based organic solvent content in order to finally dry the waste paper pulp material, from which the water content and the methylene chloride-based organic solvent content and the like are removed.
