PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gasoline of a high octane value capable of prohibiting fumigation of an ignition plug without adhering to an intake pipe or the like by compounding a reformed gasoline fraction having a specific initial boiling point, an 8C aromatic fraction, a cracked gasoline fraction and an alkylate each in a specific amount. SOLUTION: There are compounded 10-15 vol.% of a reformed gasoline fraction having an initial distilling point of 80 deg.C or below, 25-35 vol.% of an 8C aromatic fraction, 20-25 vol.% of a cracked gasoline fraction having an initial boiling point of at least 80 deg.C, 30-40 vol.% of an alkylate obtained by adding a lower olefin to a hydrocarbon such as a polymer gasoline, isobutane or the like and, if required, 5 vol.% or less of a 9C or higher hydrocarbon fraction and 15 wt.% or less of an octane value-improving agent to give a gasoline having an end point of 160 deg.C or below, preferably 150 deg.C or below, an initial boiling point of 25-35 deg.C, a 50% distilling point of 35-100 deg.C, an aromatic component content of 40 vol.% or less and an octane value according to the research method (JIS K 2280) of at least 85, preferably at least 90.
