PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organic silicone polymer enabling the easy control of its optical characteristics and shape by the changes in the kinds or positions of substituents in solutions at room temperature and useful as a column material for recognizing enantiomers by allowing the organic silicone polymer to contain a specific structure in which aromatic substituents having polar oxygen atoms are directly bound to the main chain of the silicone. SOLUTION: This organic silicone polymer has a structure of formula I [R1 is an alkyl; R2 is a position isomer of anisyl; and (n) is 10-100,000] [for example, poly(m-anisylmethylsilane)]. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting an organic dichlorosilane of formula II (for example, m- anisylmethylsilanedichloride) to a desalting condensation reaction using metal sodium in toluene. The polymer is useful as a column material for high performance liquid chromatography or gas chromatography.
