PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an excessive load from being applied to a work machine or a drive mechanism of a vehicle body when rotation of a PTO shaft mounted on a work vehicle is switched to a backward direction. SOLUTION: In a tractor, in which rotation of a PTO shaft can be switched from a forward to backward direction, or vice versa, by an operation of a PTO forward/backward rotation lever, a backward rotation PTO detection switch is provided that turns ON when the PTO forward/backward rotation is placed in a backward rotation position. The ON or OFF position of the backward rotation PTO detection switch thereby permits an operator to determine whether the PTO shaft is turning in the forward or backward direction. When the backward rotation PTO detection switch is ON, a low speed position signal is output from a controller to a throttle motor, thereby changing the opening of a governor to set an engine speed to a low level.
