PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the cost, save the energy, and provide an excellent cooling effect or the like, in the cooler of an aquarium for tropical fish. SOLUTION: This cooling apparatus 1 installed in a filtration apparatus 3 by which water W in an aquarium 2 is pumped up by a water lifting pump 6, sprayed in a filtration room S' of a filtration tank 4, subjected to the filtration treatment, and returned to the aquarium 2, has the filtration tank 4 having a discharging opening 4g, a partition wall 10 for forming a filtration room S' at the upper part and a cooling room S" at the lower part by vertically dividing the interior of the filtration tank 4, and having a lot of spraying holes 10a a heat exchanger 11 arranged in the cooling room S' and watered by the water W sprayed from the spraying holes 10a of the partition wall 10, and a fan 12 installed in the filtration tank 4, and supplying cooling air A to the cooling room S" and the filtration room S'. The water W sprayed on the heat exchanger 11 is cooled by the cooling air A, and returned from the discharging opening 4g into the aquarium 2. A part or the whole of the cooling air A passing the cooling room S" and the filtration room S' is flowed from the discharging opening 4g into the aquarium 2.
