PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a good image in conformity with a state of recording paper. SOLUTION: A recording paper set on an auto-sheet feeder 202 is conveyed to a paper feed roller 204 by a paper feed roller 203 and is passed through a portion above a line sensor 208 for detecting a meandering or a size of the recording paper to be conveyed to a platen 206 as a recording position by the paper feed roller 204. A carriage 201 slidably attached to a shaft 205 is scanned in a main scanning direction and a printing head mounted on the carriage 201 forms an image on the recording paper.
