PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely mount components by a robot even when the error is found between a tool mounted on the robot and a component mounting part of a work to some degree. SOLUTION: An automatic aligning tool to be mounted on a robot, comprises the claws 22 longitudinally movable in a tool case 20, a component mounting tool 21 at a central part, a claw rotating part 30, a member 23 for holding the claws and the component mounting tool radially immovably to the tool case, and a mechanism 32 for moving the component mounting tool to a position concentric with the component, or the like, the claws are contacted with the work earlier than the component mounting tool when the tool case is advanced toward the work, and rotated in the direction to close a pair of claw point parts by a claw rotating part while relatively retreated to the component mounting tool when they are further advanced. On this occasion, the holding member sets the claws and the component mounting tool in a floating state in the radius direction, so that a moving mechanism 32 radially moves the component mounting tool to the position concentric with the component by the contact pressure of the claw and the component.
