PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially obtain a high purity aryloxytitanium complex useful for a transesterification catalyst or the like in high yield by reacting a specific halogenated titanium complex with a specific alkali metal aryl oxide. SOLUTION: By reacting a halogenated titanium complex of formula I [Cp is a group having a cyclopentadiene-type anion skeleton; A is C or Si; R1-R4 are each H, a (halogen-substituted) 1-10C alkyl, a (fluorine-substituted) 1-10C alkoxy, a (fluorine-substituted) 6-20C aryloxy or the like; R5 and R6 are each H, a (fluorine-substituted) 1-10C alkyl or the like; X1 and X2 are each a halogen] with an alkali metal aryl oxide of formula II [M is an alkali metal; Ar is a (substituted) 6-20C aryl], an aryloxytianium complex of formula III [e.g. (η5-cyclopentadienyl)(2-phenoxy)methanetitaniumdiphenoxide or the like] is obtained.
