PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compound useful as an intermediate for producing an insecticidal compound in high yield and high purity advantageously to countermeasures for prevention of pollution by reacting a specific compound (salt) with sulfurous acid (salt). SOLUTION: A compound (salt) represented by formula I (R1 and R2 are each H or a hydrocarbon or R1 and R2 are bound to denote a 5-or a 6-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring together with the adjacent N) is reacted with sulfurous acid (salt), preferably at pH 4-11 to produce the objective compound represented by formula II (M is a metal or ammonium).
