PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow SOx occluded by an occlusion type NOx catalyst to be properly removed while minimizing aggravated acceleration feeling. SOLUTION: The state of acceleration of a vehicle is evaluated by acceleration evaluation means based on a predetermined acceleration criterion value. This acceleration criterion value is changed to a larger side (S12) when sulfur content removal necessity evaluation means determines that removal be necessary of sulfur content in fuel occluded by an occlusion type NOx catalyst (S10). Unless a vehicle is evaluated as being in an accelerated state based on the revised acceleration criterion value, sulfur content removal inhibition means will not inhibit removal of sulfur content (S16). That is, the sulfur content removal means ensures that sulfur content is properly removed even, when the vehicle is in a mild acceleration state (S18). |
