PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up a recording without impairing the image quality of a recording image. SOLUTION: An intermediate potential VM for positioning a meniscus at a standard position and an indenting potential VML for positioning the meniscus at an indented position from the standard position towards the indented side of an ink are set so as to constitute a series of slight vibration driving signal by alternately arranging indenting elements 71, each of which changes potential from the intermediate potential to the indenting potential, and pushing-back elements 73, each of which changes potential from the indenting potential to the intermediate potential. By applying the above-mentioned slight vibration driving signal to a piezoelectric vibrator, an indenting action for indenting the meniscus at its standard position to its indenting position and a pushing-back action for pushing back the meniscus at its indented position to its standard position are alternately carried out, resulting in slightly vibrating the meniscus.
