摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method capable of welding in one run, enhancing welding efficiency and obtaining a superior joint quality. SOLUTION: The submerged arc welding method, by which 100% penetration is secured in one run welding from one side of a thick steel plate with a thickness t(mm) of 50 mm or more, is such that it is designed to have a single V groove, a groove angle of 10-20 deg., a gap in the groove bottom of 8-15 mm, a root face of 0-20 mm, a wire diameter of the last eledrode of 6.4-7.2 mm, and a wire diameter of electrodes other than the last of 4.8-6.4 mm; and that the current LI of a first electrode and the current TI of a second and subsequent electrodes are set to satisfy 25t<=LI<=35 t and 20t<=TI<=30 t, with a distance between the electrodes maintained at 40-100 mm, and submerged arc welding thereby performed. The powders or particles of iron or an iron alloy are filled in the groove to a height of 10-25 mm, with the electrode inclination of the first electrode set at a sweepback angle of 2-10 deg. and with that of the second and subsequent electrodes at a sweepforward angle of 2-10 deg..
