PURPOSE: Disclosed is a hole transporting material having excellent in film forming and hole transporting properties. CONSTITUTION: The hole transporting material having a structure represented by general formula (1) or (2) and being excellent in film forming and hole transporting properties. In formula (1) R1's represent each a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, provided that they may be the same or different from each other; and n is in the range of from 10 to 20,000; and in formula (2) R1's represent each a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; R2's and R3's represent each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, an amino group, or a silyl group, provided that R1's, R2's and R3's may be the same or different from each other; n is a positive number; and m is 0 or a positive number, provided that 1 + m is in the range of from 10 to 20,000.
