PURPOSE: An aqueous cathodic electrocoating composition using alkane sulfonic acid as a neutralizing agent for the epoxy amine adduct is provided which improves electrodeposition property. CONSTITUTION: An improved aqueous cathodic electrocoating composition having a binder of an epoxy-amine adduct which is of an epoxy resin that has been reacted with an amine, and a blocked polyisocyanate cross-linking agent; wherein the improvement is the use of an alkane sulfonic acid as the neutralizing agent for the epoxy amine adduct to provide an electrocoating composition having improved throw power. The electrocoating composition has a solid content of about 5-50 wt.% such as a basic emulsion, an additive, a pigment dispersing agent, and a pigment.
