PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for manufacturing a color cathode ray tube is provided to prevent a low peel strength of a shadow mask by applying pressure to an upper portion of an outside of a mask frame in the shadow mask. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing a color cathode ray tube comprises the step of: applying pressure to an upper portion of an outside of a mask frame(2) in a shadow mask(1). The apparatus for manufacturing the color cathode ray tube comprises: a pressing device(8) for applying pressure a lessened distance direction between a couple f sides of the mask frame; and a supporting device(3) for supporting the shadow mask to a predetermined position.
