PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling an alternative current generator in a vehicle is control an exciting current by measuring the amount of a current. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an alternative current generator in a vehicle comprises the steps of: measuring an initial charge state of a battery; measuring a rotation speed of an alternative current generator per a driving path; measuring a consumed current; measuring an optimum exciting current of the alternative current generator; and controlling a size of the measured exciting current. An apparatus for controlling an alternative current generator in a vehicle comprises a communication device(13), a measuring device(14), a calculation device(11), a memory(12), and a control device(15).
