PURPOSE: Glass is provided which has a high glass transition point and coefficient of thermal expansion, resistance and fracture toughness. CONSTITUTION: The glass useful as a substrate for color PDP, plasma address liquid crystal, field emission display comprises 4.5- 65 weight % of silicon oxide, 10- 20 Weight % of alumina, 1- 6 weight % of boric oxide, 2, 5 weight % of magnesium oxide, 1- 10 weight % of calcium oxide, 0- 4.5 weight % of strontium oxide, 0-2 weight % of barium oxide and 10- 17 weight % of a compound of magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, strontium oxide and barium oxide. The glass composition is melted at 1,550- 1,650°C for 4- 5 hours in platinum crucible, followed by casting to give the glass sheet having more than 0.70 MPa.1/2 of fracture toughness, below 2.65 of specific gravity, more than 600°C of glass transition point, 75x10 -7- 95x10 -7/°C of average thermal expansion coefficient at 50- 350°C.
