PURPOSE: Disclosed is a device for recording an information signal in a recording carrier without incurring information signal segment loss at the beginning of a recording. CONSTITUTION: An area of a recording carrier (34) can be selected as an intermediate memory (50) and an operating unit (46) are configured in such a way as to begin sequential overwrite storage of a recording information signal (W) in the selected intermediate memory (50) after a queuing signal has appeared and to terminate sequential overwrite storage of a recording information signal (W) in the selected intermediate memory (50) once activating information has appeared, in addition to producing and recording a recording information signal (W) containing information signal packets (IP) and address signal packets (IV,IN). The information signal packets (IP) correspond to information signals and the address signal packets(IV, IN) contain address information. When information signal packets (IP) corresponding to information signals stored in the selected intermediate memory (50) and information signal packets (IP) stored in other areas of the recording carrier (34) are reproduced, the address information is used to determine the sequential order of the reproduced information signal packets (IP) for sequencing purposes.
